Job Overview

We are strengthening our Nights team with an additional Night Porter to work three shifts per week on a weekly rota basis. Reporting to the Guest Relations Manager and Head of Concierge, this role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of the building and our guests during night hours. Full training will be provided, and candidates with a security background will be preferred. Reliability, vigilance, initiative, and the ability to react swiftly and effectively to issues are essential.

Candidate Requirements

Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to commute to the hotel within the shift hours of 10pm - 7am.

Responsibilities

1. Overnight Presence: Maintain an alert and vigilant front-of-house presence, providing calm and discreet service.
2. Guest Safety: Be familiar with the overnight house count of guests, staff, and visitors for evacuation purposes.
3. Shift Handover: Take detailed handovers from the late receptionist and Duty Manager, and communicate relevant information to the early receptionist.
4. Communication: Answer internal and external calls throughout the night via switchboard or mobile phone.
5. Guest Reception: Welcome late-arriving guests, assist with luggage and parking, and ensure their comfort.
6. Room Service: Fulfill orders from the night menu, understanding each dish thoroughly.
7. Patrols: Conduct regular internal patrols, ensuring security and noting maintenance or procedural improvements.
8. Fire Safety: Be familiar with fire alarm panels and procedures for silencing and resetting alarms.
9. Guest Areas: Keep lounges tidy, clear tables, and prepare lounges for the morning.
10. Fire Management: Monitor and maintain open fires, ensuring they are extinguished and prepared for the next day.
11. Room Checks: Verify that bedrooms are secure, lights are off, and windows are closed.

Qualifications

Security and night work experience are advantageous. A high standard of personal grooming, thoroughness, vigilance, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are essential.
