British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a New Actives Scientist in Southampton.
The role will lead the day-to-day management of the Water Street Collective (TWSC) product claims process, interacting with brand, regulatory and legal teams (as well as science and product development colleagues) to ensure proposed claims are appropriately and efficiently processed, reviewed, substantiated and approved.
The role will also use their technical expertise to support the New Actives Science and Claims Lead in identifying and reviewing potential active ingredients for use in new products and reformulations. They will work in close partnership with other cross-functional teams to ensure these ingredients/stacks are palatable, safe and compliant for sale in the intended market.
The role will work alongside the wider R&D team to help define new product opportunities and conduct associated development activities.
The role will develop content for TWSC’s scientific communications workstream relating to our products, ingredients and relevant health topics. This will include traditional scientific publications and external talks, as well as working closely with our Brand team to create consumer-focused scientific content, such as blog posts, social media clips and website information.
The role will have opportunities to support the New Actives Science and Claims Lead in screening competitor products, as well as conducting technical due diligence for new BTV investment opportunities.
The role will help to design, run and analyse human behavioural studies to assess the cognitive and mood effects of ingredients and products.
The role will lead the management of the TWSC claims process, ensuring efficient but robust review and substantiation of consumer-facing TWSC content.
The role will support numerous initiatives within TWSC’s organic and inorganic innovation pipelines. In doing so the role will also be supporting BATs beyond tobacco product category strategy.
