Job summary

The ITP is hiring a Field Engineer Apprentice in Chelmsford for a Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship, 15 months plus assessment. Salary is £20,000 with Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, providing hands-on IT and telecoms experience across customer sites.

You will work with experienced engineers on network installations, fault resolution, and field-based learning, gaining exposure to real projects while completing structured learning and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Age 21+
• Full UK driving licence
• Based in or able to commute to Essex (Chelmsford area)
• Basic understanding of IT (e.g., networks, hardware, or systems)

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of telecoms and network equipment
• Assist with site surveys, cabling, and equipment setup
• Learn how to identify and troubleshoot network faults and connectivity issues
• Shadow engineers on customer visits across Essex
• Support with documentation, updates, and system records
• Understand health & safety and compliance standards
