Job Title: Network Engineer

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join our team at ARO.

Our team of Network Engineers form an integral part of our Technical Team who are responsible for working as part of a wider project and technical delivery team that carry‑out cutting‑edge networking implementations for our large and growing customer base.

Please note this is a field position and the successful candidate will be deploying exciting network projects across the UK so there will be travel involved multiple times a week.

Please note you must be able to travel frequently to customer sites and have your own transport and a full UK driving license.

What you’ll do
  • You will be responsible for handling technical escalations from the Network and assigned project resources within the team, providing advice and guidance.
  • You will be responsible for implementing Network projects from start to completion.
  • You will be expected to take part in mentoring junior team members.
  • Providing knowledge transfer and thorough documentation.
  • You will be responsible for the successful technical delivery of any projects that you are assigned to.
  • You will be responsible for the accuracy of the designs and solutions that you have input into.
  • You will be expected to travel nationwide to customer sites at times, working outside of the office for extended periods of time. You will also be required to carry out work out of normal working hours as agreed with your line manager and in line with the company’s overtime policy.
  • You will be required to be willing to provide ad hoc support to our Network Operating Centre (NOC), assisting customers with questions and queries about their supported networks on an escalation basis.
  • This is a client facing role covering the UK
What we are looking for?

Essential:

  • Experience of working in an IT networking project/support role within a professional or corporate environment.
  • Full UK driving license and access to own car to be insured for business use.
  • A Full DBS Check will need to be completed.
  • Project implementations/project lifecycle experience is essential.
  • MSP / Reseller experience as project engineer is essential.
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service
  • Experience of working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience with at least one of the following vendors:
    • HPE Aruba – Wired/Wireless/SD‑WAN
    • Dell – Wired
    • Cisco – Wired/Wireless
    • Extreme – Wired/Wireless/SD‑WAN
  • Experience utilising fibre cabling inc. OM1/OM2/OM3/OM4/OM5/OS1/OS2 and relevant optics.
  • Experience and understanding of Dual Stack (IPv4/IPv6) environments.
  • CCNP/ACSP/ACMP/ACP qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Switching & Routing
  • Experience of IP subnetting/supernetting and designing schematics for customer environments.
  • Core/Edge network replacement experience.
  • Experience of RF design utilising toolsets such as Ekahau/Airmagnet/Airwave VisualRF/Aruba Central.
  • Routing experience – iBGP/eBGP/BGP‑EVPN/VXLAN/OSPFv2/OSPFv3/Underlay/Overlay for Datacentre and Campus Networking.
  • WLAN Infrastructure deployment experience of controller/controllerless based networks and cloud managed networking.
  • Understanding and experience of using DHCP/DNS infrastructure.
  • You will be a client‑friendly, confident, eager, and enthusiastic individual, who is keen to develop their career long term.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to self‑manage time.
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of stakeholders.

  • An understanding and appreciation of Windows Server, Virtualisation and Storage technologies.
