Job summary

Pertemps Thames Water is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician for Didcot Sewage Treatment Works. The role involves maintenance on mechanical/electrical equipment, fault diagnosis, and providing technical support. Training will be provided as needed.

The job includes a 38-hour week, standby rota, and overtime with earning potential increases after training. Benefits include career development within a renowned utility partner at Didcot STW.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
• If only mechanical or electrical experience, the company will develop right people to dual-skilled status.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues.
• Physical fitness, able to work in confined spaces, with relevant training completed.
• Valid driving licence.
• Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC or NVQ, with upskilled mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions.
• Diagnose complex faults and repair during incidents.
• Provide technical advice and training/support for trainees as required.
• Work on pumps, control gear, VSDs, valves, PLCs, and dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota after relevant training.
