Job summary

Thames Water in Shalford, UK, is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant at the Shalford Water Treatment Works. The role requires safe, efficient work with minimal supervision to keep sites operational for customers.

You will join the Clean Water Division and contribute to reducing environmental impact, with a pathway to upskill and develop expertise in electrical and mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• ONC/HNC in engineering or NVQ level 3+ in electrical engineering.
• Mechanical upskilling (NVQ2/3) is crucial for dual-skilled work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Investigate plant faults and carry out repairs to minimise interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and training to technical trainees when required.
• Work on pumps, control gear, motors, VSDs, valves, sensors, PLCs, and dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota following training.
