Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our team at Rye Meads Sewage Treatment Works. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely and efficiently with minimal supervision to keep sites operational for our customers.

You should have a time-served apprenticeship with electrical qualifications (ONC/HNC, NVQ, or C&G Level 3) and upskill in mechanical NVQ2/3.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a true multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
• Willingness to develop into dual-skilled status for candidates with mechanical or electrical experience only.
• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are crucial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to minimise plant breakdowns.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs to avoid process interruptions, including complex faults.
• Provide technical advice, reference up-to-date knowledge, and train or support technical trainees if required.
• Work on equipment such as pumps, motors, starters, VSDs, valves, sensors, PLCs, and dosing equipment.
