Job summary

Thames Water Utilities Limited is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join the Waste Water team in the Thames Valley North area, including Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Marlow and Oxford. You will inspect, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical plant with minimal supervision to keep sites operational for customers.

Role involves working on pumps, 3‑phase motors, control gear, PLCs and VSDs, with a standby rota after training; a valid driving licence is essential and training is

Qualifications

• Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent with multi-skilled capacity.
• Time-served apprentice with experience in electrical systems.
• Upskilled mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose and repair plant.
• Willingness to develop dual-skilled status if needed.
• Knowledge of health and safety issues is crucial.
• Valid driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Investigate plant faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
• Provide technical advice and training support to trainees if required.
• Work on pumps, motors, controls, VSDs, valves and dosing equipment.
• Participate in standby rota after training.
