Job summary

Thames Water in Reading is recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and electrical equipment at Fobney Water Treatment Works.

You will work 38 hours per week (Mon-Fri) with standby rota payments and potential overtime. A valid electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, NVQ or C&G Level 3, with mechanical upskilling, is essential. Vehicle and tools provided.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity.
• Upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant safely.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs quickly to avoid process interruptions.
• Provide technical advice and refer to up-to-date knowledge; train/mentor technical trainees if required.
• Work on equipment such as pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, VSDs, PLCs and dosing equipment.
