Job summary

Birmingham Children's Trust is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to shape and maintain our estate, supporting services for children, young people and families across Birmingham.

You will lead on maintenance programmes, manage contractors, ensure compliance with health and safety, and support property improvement projects across several sites, with hybrid work in Birmingham and travel to Trust sites.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or substantial equivalent experience.
• Membership of RICS, CIOB or IWFM (formerly BIFM) or working towards membership.
• Proven experience delivering maintenance plans and property improvement projects across a diverse estate.
• Experience managing planned and emergency maintenance works across multiple sites.
• Experience managing contractors and suppliers against KPIs and service standards.
• Strong understanding of property legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
• Experience monitoring budgets and balancing priorities within financial constraints.
• Experience identifying and mitigating health and safety risks in operational environments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with effective risk and issue management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites.
• Coordinate emergency repairs and small capital works projects.
• Manage facilities budgets and contractor performance against KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, welfare and regulatory requirements.
• Lead on property improvement projects across the estate.
