Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the successful candidate to report to Concord, NC at least three times per week.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to optimize our simulation toolchain for GM Motorsports-supported series. The main goal is to provide engineering support that enhances on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM engineers to analyze data using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, develop and educate on simulation tools, contribute feedback to GM's simulation development, refine vehicle modeling inputs, and establish baseline simulation settings for events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation, proactive engagement, and passion for accurate modeling are essential.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for simulation input.
  • Collaborate to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years in professional motorsport within a race team.
  • Proficiency with Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Analytical, customer-focused, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong team player, flexible schedule, and integrity.
  • Willingness to travel 10% annually.

This position may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git.
