Job Description:

This role is categorized as hybrid, requiring the candidate to report to Concord, NC three times per week at minimum.

The Role: To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our simulation toolchain for GM Motorsports-supported series. Responsibilities include providing engineering support for improved on-track performance, collaborating with race team members, conducting analysis with offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing and educating on offline simulation tools, and contributing to vehicle modeling inputs and baseline simulation settings. All projects must be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. The role requires proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate, efficient models.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  • Collaborate to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in the simulation development process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years' engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years' professional motorsport experience within a race team.
  • Proficiency with Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, customer-focused, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment with integrity.
  • Team player with flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% annually.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git.
