Job Description

This hybrid role requires reporting to Concord, NC at least three times per week. The primary focus is to support GM Motorsports by enhancing simulation tools for improved on-track performance. Responsibilities include collaborating with race teams and support engineers, conducting analysis with offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, developing simulation tools, and refining vehicle models and settings for on-track events. Candidates should complete projects to high standards, on time, and within budget, demonstrating proficiency in simulation and a proactive approach to vehicle performance activities.

What You’ll Do
  1. Support GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series as a key performance engineer.
  2. Assist teams with data fitting for simulation input.
  3. Work with the simulation support team to improve tools and performance.
  4. Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  5. Represent racing team needs in simulation development.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years in professional motorsport within a race team.
  • Proficiency with Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment, with a strong work ethic.
  • Flexibility to travel 10% annually.
  • Eligible for relocation benefits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with DiL simulators.
  • Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
