Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal is to provide engineering support that improves on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to conduct analysis using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, develop and educate on offline simulation tools, facilitate feedback to GM simulation developers, refine vehicle modeling inputs, and establish baseline simulation settings for events. All projects should be completed to high standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and a passion for accurate models are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Support GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series as a key performance engineer.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for simulation input.
  • Collaborate to improve the simulation toolchain and enhance race team performance.
  • Provide expertise on simulation functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in simulation development.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience in a race team.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Flexible schedule, high integrity, and ability to travel 10% annually.

Relocation benefits may be available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git.
