Job Description

To strengthen our motorsports program, we are seeking a Team Simulation Support Engineer to enhance the utilization of our simulation toolchain across GM Motorsports-supported series. The primary goal of this position is to provide valuable engineering support that leads to improved on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and fellow GM support engineers to conduct analysis studies using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations. Additionally, you will assist in the development and education of offline simulation tools, facilitate team feedback to GM simulation development entities, contribute to the refinement of vehicle modeling inputs, and help establish baseline simulation settings for on-track events. You will be expected to complete all projects to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. Proficiency in simulation tasks, a proactive approach to vehicle performance activities, and a passion for accurate, efficient models are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data for input into simulation models.
  • Collaborate with the broader simulation support team to improve and explore methods to enhance the simulation toolchain and race team performance.
  • Provide race teams with expert knowledge on simulation toolchain functionality and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs as a stakeholder in the simulation development process.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering industry experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience within a race team setting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling techniques.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment, with a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel 10% annually.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency in Dymola/Modelica, C#, and Git.
