Hybrid: This role requires reporting to Concord, NC three times per week at minimum.

The Role

To strengthen our motorsports program, we seek a Team Simulation Support Engineer to improve our simulation toolchain in GM Motorsports-supported series. The main goal is to provide engineering support for better on-track performance. You will collaborate with race team members and GM support engineers to analyze data using offline and driver-in-loop (DiL) simulations, develop and educate on offline simulation tools, communicate feedback to GM simulation developers, refine vehicle modeling inputs, and establish baseline simulation settings for on-track events. All projects should meet high standards, deadlines, and budget constraints. Proficiency in simulation tasks, proactive engagement, and passion for accurate models are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key performance support engineer for GM Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup series.
  • Assist teams in fitting collected data into simulation models.
  • Work with the simulation support team to improve the toolchain and enhance race team performance.
  • Provide expert knowledge on simulation functionalities and modeling practices.
  • Represent racing team needs in the development of simulation tools.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of professional motorsport experience.
  • Proficiency with data analysis software like Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, and McLaren ATLAS.
  • Knowledge of high-performance vehicle, tire, and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Strong analytical, customer-focused, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with a strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Team player with flexible schedule and willingness to travel 10% annually.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Experience with driver-in-loop (DiL) simulators.
  • Proficiency with Dymola/Modelica.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git.
