Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a highly skilled ESME Application Engineer to join our engineering team in Concord, NC. The role focuses on safely building high‑performance battery systems with top quality and Built‑In Quality throughout the design and manufacturing processes.

You will lead manufacturing process design for the Energy Store and its enclosure, work with QA on procedures, and perform root cause analysis to drive improvements across assembly operations in a multidisciplinary

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
2+ years of battery pack assembly engineering experience.
Experience programming industrial robots.
Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work in teams.
Self-driven with ability to lead projects independently.

Responsibilities

Lead design and optimization of manufacturing processes for Energy Store (ES) and Energy Store Main Enclosure (ESME).
Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety.
Develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures with QA for various assembly processes.
Contribute to design process to achieve Built-In Quality.
Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings.
Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
Document and communicate assembly process developments clearly.
Collaborate with ERS Assembly Manager and HV Safety Supervisor on standards.
