Job summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking an ESME Application Engineer to join our Concord, NC team. You will lead design and optimization of manufacturing processes for the Energy Store (ES) and Energy Store Main Enclosure (ESME) while ensuring safety and Built-In Quality.

You will collaborate across disciplines, work with QA on process procedures, and contribute to high‑voltage safety and standards in a fast-paced motorsport context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in battery pack assembly engineering.
• Experience programming industrial robots.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA/NX/SolidWorks).
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Self-driven with ability to lead projects independently.
• Experience in automotive/high-performance industries is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and optimization of manufacturing processes for ES and ESME.
• Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety.
• Develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures with QA.
• Contribute to design of ES and ESME to achieve Built-In Quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings.
• Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
• Communicate assembly process developments with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with ERS Assembly Manager and HV Safety Supervisor on standards.
