Job summary

The RAC is hiring a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR division. Work is scheduled, with a fully equipped RAC van, fuel card and tools provided. Base salary is £40,170 with OTE up to £52,000; overtime and bonuses boost earnings.

Typical 40-hour weeks, 8:30–17:00 with 1 in 4 Saturdays, no emergency callouts, pre-booked jobs across the Plymouth area. You’ll diagnose, service and repair vehicles at customers’ driveways or workplaces, using mobile diagnostics and on-site expertise to deliver

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, with 2+ years' hands-on experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
