Job summary

The RAC is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to join its SMR division. You’ll work on pre-booked appointments across your local area, away from reactive callouts, with a fully equipped RAC van and tools provided.

Expect a 40-hour week with core hours 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and one in four Saturdays. Competitive base salary of £40,170 with on‑target earnings up to £52,000 plus overtime and benefits.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) is required.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is preferred.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points is required.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and diagnostics on customer vehicles.
• In‑depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.

Skills

5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Tech/3

Full UK driving licence (≤6 points)

Education
