Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customer locations such as driveways or office car parks. This permanent full-time role offers a basic salary of £40,170 plus bonuses and an OTE of up to £52,000.

You will work Monday to Friday 8:30am–5pm with optional overtime. Company van, fuel card and tools are provided, plus a pension and life coverage. This role requires UK right to work and a current driving licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• 2+ years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience in workshop or mobile role.
• UK driving licence (full) with max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tires, brakes.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools/software to identify and resolve issues.
• Explain repairs and recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep records of work and parts used.
• Stay updated on automotive tech and repair techniques.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Liverpool

Pay / salary: £40,170 Basic + Bonus (Up to £6,000) + (£28.96ph) + Company Van + Fuel Card + Tools Provided, OTE: Up to £52,000 (Guaranteed overtime option to increase your basic salary)

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm, 1 in 4 Saturdays, 40 hours per week
1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 but will consider level 2. (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
