Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces in Liverpool. You will use your diagnostic skills and keep detailed records, with a company van and tools provided.

The role is 40 hours, Mon-Fri 8:30am–5pm, with optional overtime; earn £40,170 base plus bonus up to £6k and an OTE up to £52,000. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brakes, and diagnostics.
• Diagnose, repair and communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Keep accurate records of work and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Liverpool

Pay / salary: £40,170 Basic + Bonus (Up to £6,000) + (£28.96ph) + Company Van + Fuel Card + Tools Provided, OTE: Up to £52,000 (Guaranteed overtime option to increase your basic salary)

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm, 1 in 4 Saturdays, 40 hours per week
1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 but will consider level 2. (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
