Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces. The role is based in Leicester, with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm, plus optional Saturdays. OTE up to £52,000; base around £40,170, and 1-in-4 Saturdays.

Training and progression supported. You’ll need Level 2 (ideally Level 3) in light vehicle maintenance and repair, plus 2+ years post-qualification experience.

Qualifications

• Must have right to work in the UK.
• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair; Level 3 preferred.
• 2+ years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience, workshop or mobile.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles (including EVs) at customer locations.
• Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine/transmission/brake/electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve problems.
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep records of work and parts used.
• Stay updated with automotive tech and repair techniques.

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Friday), 8am 5:30pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customers selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
