Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces across Newbury and the wider UK. The role includes optional overtime and a pay package that can reach £52,000 OTE, with 40 hours per week and 1 in 4 Saturdays.

You will handle diagnostics, explain repair needs to customers, and manage paperwork. A UK driving licence is required, and Level 2/3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 qualification.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile role.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer's location.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers' home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Pay / salary:£40,170 OTE: Up to £52,000

Job type:Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am - 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
