Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a new specialist division of the UK’s leading breakdown company. You’ll carry out servicing and repairs at customer locations, including EVs, from home base, with a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday and an occasional Saturday.

Salary starts at £40,178 (inclusive of LWA) with OTE over £57,000. Overtime paid at time and a half; 1–2 extra Saturdays per month available.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks), including EVs.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex faults.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers.
• Process payments via card transactions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members. Must have right to work in the UK status.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph). 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, orequivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
