Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Derby to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces. The role is 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday with one Saturday every month, with overtime premium after 5pm or on extra Saturdays.

You should have a Level 2 (ideally Level 3) qualification and at least 2 years' post-qualification experience, plus a full UK driving licence. OTE exceeds £52,000 with a base of £40,178.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (ideally Level 3).
• At least 2 years' post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach and the ability to work independently.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points and no bans.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles (including EVs) at customer locations such as driveways or office car parks.
• Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, tires, brakes) and diagnose issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and fix complex faults and document work performed.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers' home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Pay / salary: £40,178 OTE: In Excess of £52,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

• Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)
• 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer's selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
