Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations across the Bristol area. Role is home-based, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with one Saturday per month. Overtime paid at time and a half, with additional annual bonuses possible.

Salary is £40,170 (inclusive of LWA) with OTE above £52,000. Benefits include pension, life insurance, career progression, and a car salary sacrifice option after 12 months.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (or Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience, workshop or mobile.
• Ability to work independently and make on‑the‑spot decisions.
• Customer-focused approach to servicing at client location.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles (including EVs) at customer-selected locations (driveway, office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve problems.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers and handle payments.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Bristol

Pay / salary: £40,170 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: In Excess of £52,000

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role

Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, orequivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
