Job summary

Octane Recruitment is helping a leading national breakdown company recruit a Mobile Vehicle Technician in Horsham. The role involves servicing, maintaining and repairing vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces by prebooked appointment.

You will work 40 hours per week across five days (Monday to Saturday) from 8am to 8pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays. Overtime is optional with significant rewards and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles in workshop or mobile role.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points (no bans).
• Customer-focused approach and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at customer locations (driveways, car parks, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tires, brakes and inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software; keep customers informed of issues and recommendations.
• Handle payments by card and maintain records of work performed.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Location: Horsham

Pay / salary: £40,178 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: Up to £52,000

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role Home based, working 40 hours per week, across 5 days (Monday to Saturday) 8am - 8PM, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
