Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for servicing, maintenance and repairs at customers' homes or workplaces. The role operates 40 hours weekly from Monday to Friday, with one Saturday per month and overtime paid at time and a half.

OTE above £52,000 with base pay around £40,170, based in Welwyn Garden City. You will diagnose and repair vehicles including EVs, perform routine maintenance, and ensure accurate records.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points, no bans.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at customers' locations.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems including engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Handle payments through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Pay / salary: £40,170 OTE: In Excess of £52,000

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Technician role Home based, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am 5pm with 1 Saturday per month. When working the Saturday, you will receive a day off in that week. Any overtime past 5pm or an additional Saturday, is paid at time and a half (£30ph)

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
