Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces. The role involves EVs, diagnostic work, and customer communication, with a focus on quality and safety.

Working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Mon-Sat), with optional overtime and a progression path within a leading national breakdown company in the UK.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 qualification in light vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles at the customer’s location (driveway or office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks (oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections).
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools/software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Handle payments through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers’ home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am – 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

What you’ll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.
