Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces in Bournemouth. This permanent, full-time role offers £40,170 with OTE up to £52,000, working 40 hours a week across 5 days (Mon–Sat), 8am–8pm, with one in four Saturdays; overtime and bonus schemes can add up to £11,000 a year.

You must have a Level 2 (preferably Level 3) light vehicle qualification, a full UK driving licence with up to 6 points, and at

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally Level 3 (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, in a workshop or mobile role.
• Must have full UK driving licence (max 6 points, no bans).

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer's location (driveway or office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems using diagnostic tools and software; communicate findings to customers.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers' home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am - 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.
1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional - more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer's selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
