Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland is seeking a Catering Manager to lead day-to-day kitchen operations across multiple school sites in the Belfast area. The role emphasizes team leadership, adherence to HACCP, and delivering high-quality school meals under safety standards.

You will manage food preparation, portion control, dietary requirements, and ensure effective service delivery while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• Hold NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or higher, or two years’ catering experience.
• Evidence of effective supervision or management of a catering team.
• Experience in stock control, budget management and financial controls.
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
• Knowledge of special diets, allergens and dietary requirements.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training and have access to suitable transport.

Responsibilities

• Execute skilled cooking activities and menu development, including diet modifications and special events.
• Organise and supervise all aspects of food service, including dining centre and production kitchens.
• Ensure HACCP, food safety standards, allergen management and accurate temperature records.
• Manage deliveries, inventory, storage and stock-take to minimise waste.
• Promote catering services to parents, principals, pupils, and customers; drive uptake of meals.
• Establish effective links with schools on service delivery and handle customer feedback.
• Lead risk assessments, including Fire Risk Assessment, and manage incidents as required.
• Supervise catering team, allocate duties, and support recruitment and training.
