Job summary

Education Authority in Northern Ireland seeks a Catering Assistant to support the daily operation of the school catering unit under supervision. You will help prepare food, serve meals to pupils, maintain hygiene, and assist with dining room duties to ensure efficient service and promote pupil satisfaction.

As part of a team, you will follow safety procedures, check temperatures where required, and help with basic administration and stock.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food
• Organising and controlling food service points
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils and parents
• Maintenance of central kitchen communications where applicable
• Preparing the dining area and setting tables and serving points
• Carrying out general kitchen and dining room duties including washing up and cleaning surfaces
• Cleaning kitchen/servery and dining areas and equipment
• Recording temperatures for control purposes
• Securing premises as required
• Complying with Acts, regulations and codes of practice
• Carrying out duties within the scope of competence and company values
