Job summary

The RAC is recruiting a Roadside Technician to provide expert mechanical roadside repair, diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK. You’ll diagnose faults, work independently, and help members stay on the move with confidence and safety.

With a base salary of £36,400 and an OTE around £61,000, the role offers structured development and IMI accreditation. Expect demand-led shifts, 40 hours per week, and occasional overtime to boost earnings.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience or 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert mechanical roadside repair, vehicle diagnostics and emergency breakdown support across the UK.
• Diagnose faults, solve problems and help members continue their journeys safely.
• Combine technical expertise with great customer service using the latest diagnostic technology.
