Job summary

WSP in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Engineering Delivery Lead for feasibility through execution on major industrial/mining projects. You will steer cross-disciplinary teams, set scope and EWPs, uphold safety-in-design, and ensure alignment with cost and schedule targets.

You will drive technical governance, design assurance and digital engineering practices (E3D/Navisworks), while managing risks and stakeholder interfaces across locations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience delivering large-scale industrial/mining/process projects across feasibility, FEED and execution.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary teams in EPCM or integrated owner/contractor environments.
• Strong background in engineering management, design coordination and project setup.
• Experience in safety-in-design, technical assurance and governance frameworks.
• Familiar with digital engineering and BIM environments (E3D, Navisworks, integrated data platforms).
• Strong commercial awareness – understands impact of engineering decisions on cost and delivery.
• Able to operate at strategic and detail levels, including issue resolution and technical decisions.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology (postgraduate desirable).
• Extensive geotechnical design experience for underground tunnels/shafts in soft rock or hard rock.
• Knowledge of ground behaviour, soil/rock mechanics and geotechnical risk management.
• Familiarity with tunnelling methods (TBM, NATM, SCL) and shaft sinking techniques.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software and interpretation of ground investigation data.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across feasibility, FEED and execution phases.
• Define engineering scope, deliverables, EWPs and resource plans.
• Lead safety-in-design and inherently safer design principles.
• Run HAZIDs / design risk reviews and close out residual risks.
• Establish engineering management plans, basis of design and design criteria.
• Implement design assurance, reviews and quality processes.
• Lead peer reviews, stage gates and technical decision workflows.
• Manage design change control with client/regulatory requirements.
• Track engineering performance using deliverable tracking, earned value and issue management.
• Intervene to prevent slippage and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate interfaces across engineering, procurement and construction.
• Lead multidisciplinary design reviews (concept, 30/60/90%), ensure safety and operability.
• Drive value improvement initiatives and capture lessons learned.
• Coach and develop team capability and support succession.
