Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to join our Mine Engineering & Stability Team in the UK. You will lead mining studies and advise clients on development paths, life-of-mine planning, and optimization strategies.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you’ll collaborate across disciplines, mentor junior engineers, travel as needed, and help grow our mining advisory capability with a passion for innovation and practical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience in mining roles.
• Strong proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik/Vulcan/Surpac).
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mining studies from conception to completion across project life cycle.
• Advise on mining methods, development, and life-of-mine planning.
• Develop cost models and perform financial analyses.
• Support due diligence reviews for M&A or project finance.
• Interface with geotechnical, water, tailings, and other groups.
• Provide safety leadership and travel as needed.
• Mentor junior engineers and deliver professional development.
