Job description

MIG Welder (Temp to Perm)

Location: Coventry
Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour (DOE)
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Start: ASAP

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced MIG Welder to join a busy fabrication team producing precision metal components for the automotive sector. You’ll work to drawings and jigs on mild steel parts, delivering consistent, high‑quality welds in a fast‑paced, production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • MIG welding of mild steel components (light‑medium gauges) to production standards.
  • Set up, tack, and finish welds using appropriate parameters, consumables, and techniques to meet quality requirements.
  • Work from engineering drawings; interpret weld symbols, tolerances, and measurements.
  • Operate fabrication equipment (grinders, drills, saws; basic jig/fixture work) and perform weld prep/finishing.
  • In‑process inspection: visual checks, measurements, and basic rework to ensure parts meet specification.
  • Maintain work area safety and housekeeping; follow all H&S procedures, PPE, and safe systems of work.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and stores to hit daily output and OTIF targets.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven MIG welding experience in a manufacturing/fabrication setting.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools (tape, vernier, angle gauges).

  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a positive, team‑focused attitude.
Desirable (nice to have)
  • Experience with automotive/OE or aftermarket metal components.
  • Familiarity with galvanised/e‑coated parts, TIG/spot welding, or basic press‑brake operations.
Hours & Pay

£14.00-£15.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Core hours
  • Monday‑Thursday: 07:00-16:00
  • Friday: 07:00-11:00 (early finish)
  • Overtime: May be available subject to business needs.
