Job summary

Education Authority seeks a Supervisory Assistant to oversee pupils during the mid-day break at a Derry/Londonderry primary school. The role covers supervision, discipline and dining-area assistance, with duties extending to health and safety compliance and routine paperwork.

This permanent, part-time post offers 10 hours per week (11:30am-1:30pm), five days a week, with a retainer paid during school holidays. The post reports to the Principal/Senior Supervisory Assistant.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with, or supervising children in a formal environment.
• Knowledge of Supervisory Assistant duties, child protection and safeguarding, and health and safety.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training as required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during mid-day break and monitor discipline on school premises.
• Liaise with senior staff on mid-day supervision matters.
• Handle minor incidents, accidents or sickness and report to senior staff immediately.
• Oversee meals, queues and seating; assist with dining area duties and litter control.
• Complete required paperwork and adapt to other duties within competence.
