Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for the post of Supervisory Assistant. You will support the supervision of children and help maintain discipline during the mid-day break, ensuring safe, orderly conduct on school premises.

The role requires flexible teamwork, good communication, and willingness to undertake relevant training, with duties aligned to health and safety and school policy in a busy educational environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with or supervising children in a formal environment.
• Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding and health and safety as relevant to the role.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training as and when required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising children in all areas of the school and grounds to ensure health and safety regulations are observed and discipline is enforced.
• Liaise with the principal/senior supervisory assistant on mid-day supervision matters.
• Deal with minor problems, accidents or sickness and report any serious incidents to the principal/senior supervisory assistant immediately.
• Supervise meals and queues, including hops between classrooms and dining areas, and ensure orderly conduct of diners.
• Be responsible for collection of dinner tickets, distribution of meals, and ancillary duties (clearing, tidying, removal of litter).
• Carry out duties to comply with health and safety regulations and other legal requirements.
• Complete all necessary paperwork.
• Carry out duties for jobs up to and including those in the same grade, provided such duties are within competence.
