Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Coventry is seeking a Microsection Technician to validate welded assemblies and report on weld quality. This role requires 3 years of Quality or Welding experience and skills in completing destructive tests and compiling quality reports. Ideal candidates will have a laboratory background, strong communication skills, and education including 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above. Join us to contribute to making Coventry a better workplace.

Job description

We are seeking for aMicrosection Technicianwho will be responsibile for the validation of welded assemblies and reporting on the quality of welded produced from weld cells. You will support the Quality Lab in continually driving cost reductions through effeciency imporvements and effective use of time.

Your tasks
  • Complete destructive testing using Universal tensile test machines (50 / 100Kn)
  • Perform all the processes involved in the macro-etch sectioning of submitted welds:- Marking out, Plasma cutting, Diamond saw cutting, Rotary polishing, Acid etching
  • Dimensionally measure each sectioned weld to produce a comprehensive quality report, using digital microscopes, bespoke software and internal Excel spread sheets.
  • Compile and distribute reports on weld quality and inform relevant personnel of results
  • Reacts to NOK result as per Brose non-conforming procedure
  • Comply with and champion, within the Laboratory, all company policies and procedures
  • Undertake special projects/activities as required.
  • Complies with all company policies, procedures and guidelines including Brose code of conduct, FIRST, IDEAS, health and safety, environment, quality, discipline, grievance and equal opportunities
Your Profile
  • 3 years of Quality or Welding experience
  • Laboratory experience preferred
  • 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above including maths and english
  • Be able to multitask
  • Good communications skills
  • Understanding of; Cut, Polish and Etch analysis, UTM Testing and Analysis , Conformance to MSDS and safe handling of Chemicals
