Job summary

Auto Skills UK is recruiting for a MET Technician role at a modern accident repair centre in Liverpool. The position offers £19 per hour and a Monday-to-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm schedule, with a full-time permanent contract.

You will work alongside experienced Panel Beaters and Paint Sprayers, using mechanical, electrical and trim skills to restore vehicles to pre-accident condition, with ongoing training and opportunities for career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience as MET Technician, Strip & Fit Technician or Vehicle Technician is preferred.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim knowledge.
• Experience stripping and refitting vehicle components.

Responsibilities

• Stripping and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim components on accident-damaged vehicles.
• Removing and replacing damaged components in preparation for panel repairs.
• Rebuilding vehicles to pre-accident condition with correct fitting.
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault-finding where required.
• Working with Panel Beaters and Paint Sprayers to ensure efficient repair processes.
• Following manufacturer repair methods and procedures.
• Using appropriate tools to complete repairs safely and accurately.
• Maintaining accurate records and workshop procedures.
• Keeping the working area clean, safe and organised.

The Role

As a MET Technician, Strip & Fit Technician or Vehicle MET Technician, you'll be responsible for removing, repairing and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim components to support the accident repair process.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Stripping and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim components on accident-damaged vehicles.
• Removing and replacing damaged components in preparation for panel repairs.
• Rebuilding vehicles to their pre-accident condition, ensuring all components are correctly fitted.
• Carrying out mechanical and electrical fault-finding where required.
• Working alongside Panel Beaters and Paint Sprayers to ensure efficient repair processes.
• Following manufacturer repair methods and procedures.
• Using appropriate tools and equipment to complete repairs safely and accurately.
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure vehicles meet the required standards.
• Maintaining accurate records and following workshop procedures.
• Keeping your working area clean, safe and organised.

About You

To be considered for this MET Technician position, you'll ideally have:

• Previous experience as a MET Technician, Strip & Fit Technician or Vehicle Technician.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim knowledge.
• Experience stripping and refitting vehicle components.
• A good understanding of accident repair processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and meeting deadlines.
• A commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards.
• Hybrid and Electric Vehicle experience would be advantageous.
