Job summary

Auto Skills UK in Castleford is seeking an MET (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim) Technician to join a busy, modern Bodyshop. You will strip and refit accident-damaged vehicles and ensure all components are reinstalled to manufacturer standards.

Qualifications

• Previous MET Technician experience in a Bodyshop or accident repair centre.
• Recognised Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (NVQ/IMI/SVQ/ATA).
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim removal and refitting skills.
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment is advantageous.
• Good understanding of modern vehicle systems and manufacturer repair methods.
• Attention to detail and high-quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Strip and refit accident-damaged vehicles, reinstalling components to OEM standards.
• Remove and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components during repairs.
• Diagnose and replace damaged parts as required.
• Carry out vehicle inspections before and after repairs.
• Collaborate with panel beaters and paint technicians to complete repairs efficiently.
• Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and rectify issues.
• Maintain accurate job records and complete work within timescales.
• Perform final quality checks before vehicles are returned.

The Role

As an MET (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim) Technician , you'll be responsible for stripping and refitting accident-damaged vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, electrical and trim components are reinstalled to manufacturer standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Removing and refitting mechanical, electrical and trim components during the vehicle repair process.
• Diagnosing and replacing damaged parts as required.
• Carrying out vehicle inspections before and after repairs.
• Working alongside panel beaters and paint technicians to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
• Using diagnostic equipment where required to identify and rectify vehicle faults.
• Ensuring all repairs comply with manufacturer repair methods and safety standards.
• Maintaining accurate job records and completing work within agreed timescales.
• Carrying out final quality checks before vehicles are returned to customers.

About You

This role would suit an experienced MET Technician / Mechanical, Electrical & Trim Technician who enjoys working in a fast-paced Bodyshop environment.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience as an MET (Mechanical, Electrical & Trim) Technician within a Bodyshop or accident repair centre.
• Recognised apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (NVQ / IMI / SVQ / ATA), with a commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong mechanical, electrical and trim removal and refitting skills.
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment is advantageous.
• Good understanding of modern vehicle systems and manufacturer repair methods.
• Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• A full UK driving licence.
