Are you interested in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Would you like to gain hands‑on experience working with complex needs alongside trained therapists, counsellors and psychologists?

A specialist SEMH school in Reading is seeking a bright, enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant to support students' academic learning, emotional well‑being and behaviour. This is a full‑time role starting ASAP, working with children aged 8‑18 who require consistent, child‑centred support.

The school adopts a therapeutic approach and offers a wide range of training to the successful Mental Health Assistant. Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential. Graduates in relevant fields such as Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or related subjects are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with on‑site therapists and psychologists. You will receive mentoring, have the opportunity to shadow professional sessions, and gain invaluable experience supporting children with special educational needs and mental health challenges. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Occupational Psychologists, Therapeutic Support Workers or SEN Teachers.
