Job summary

Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading invites applications for a Medical Rota Co-Ordinator (Band 5). This full-time, 12-month fixed-term role supports the daily management of medical staffing rotas, liaises with junior doctors and Consultants, and minimises locum spend while maintaining safe staffing levels.

The post involves coordinating rotas, leave, inductions, and bank locums, with standard hours of 08:00–16:00, Monday to Friday, and a salary in the NHS Band 5 range

Qualifications

• Experience with rota management and scheduling systems.
• Experience in a complex organisational environment, preferably NHS.
• Good IT literacy and ability to use rostering tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare rotas and manage administrative tasks supporting rota creation and completion.
• Plan ahead to pre-empt rota gaps and arrange locum cover as needed.
• Identify internal resources to cover gaps and encourage locum bank participation.
• Ensure locums receive reporting instructions and induction materials.
• Coordinate, log and monitor leave for medical staff including Consultants.
