Job summary

Newtown Surgery in Widnes is seeking a friendly medical receptionist to join our busy practice. This 30-hour-per-week role covers reception, phone duties and a range of administrative tasks to support clinicians and patients.

You will manage appointments, handle patient inquiries, process payments, and act as a central point of communication within the team. Prior experience in GP reception is desirable but not essential. Working Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern.

  • Open and sort post and take deliveries
  • Scan/copy or file documents/patient notes
  • Receive payments from patients
  • Act as a central point of communication, taking messages and carrying out actions as required
  • Offer general support to colleagues/clinicians/patients, as required

Job description

Previous applicants need not apply. We are looking for a (30 Hours) experienced medical receptionist who would like to join our busy and friendly practice. Working Monday-Friday with a weekly rota of shifts allocated between the hours of 8-6.30pm. The role will include both reception, phone and administrative tasks. Administrative and reception work could include some or all of the following:



  • Care Co-Ordination

  • Care Navigation

  • Make appointment bookings and respond to a variety of enquires

  • Process prescriptions

  • Open and sort post and take deliveries

  • Scan/copy or file documents/patient notes

  • Receive payments from patients

  • Act as a central point of communication, taking messages and carrying out actions as required

  • Offer general support to colleagues/clinicians/patients, as required


Clerical and receptionist work could include some or all of the following:
