Job summary

Omega is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a rotating shift pattern in the Doncaster area. The role focuses on planned and reactive maintenance to keep production running and minimize downtime.

You’ll work with conveyors, hoppers, and materials handling systems on an established FMCG site. The successful candidate will have apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering, with experience in manufacturing and a proactive approach to fault finding and continuous

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering.
• Experience in manufacturing environments (FMCG/heavy industry) preferred.
• Understanding of PPM schedules and fault diagnosis.

Responsibilities

• Provide planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance to minimise production losses.
• Maintain continuous production by fault-finding and servicing process equipment.
• Plan and perform scheduled, reactive maintenance and equipment overhauls.
• Work with conveyors, hoppers, and materials handling systems.
• Lead mechanical repairs and use CMMS for maintenance records.

• Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Rotating shifts
• Location: Doncaster area, good A1 AND M18 access
• Do you want to come off shifts involving 12 hours? Work a Monday to Friday pattern?
• This is an 8-hour rotating pattern offering weekend overtime.
• Pay Range: £49,500 plus Package Plus 5% Bonus OTE £55K+
• Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Rotating shifts

• Your new challenge will be providing effective and efficient planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance to minimise losses to production
• Ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe approach to fault-finding and maintenance of process and packaging equipment
• Planned and reactive maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum
• You'll work with conveyor systems, hoppers, solos, conveyors and materials handling
• Leading mechanical repair and working with a CMMS
• Diagnosis, resolution, and elimination of root causes
• Implementation of minor equipment modifications in support of increased performance
• Completion of all scheduled, planned corrective, reactive and maintenance as allocated
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of allocated annual equipment overhauls

Qualifications & Requirements – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Rotating shifts

• Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering
• Manufacturing Industry experience, heavy, medium or FMCG environments considered
• Routine Preventive Maintenance, so as to have an understanding of a PPM schedule
• Finding and fixing faults quickly and effectively
• Basic welding and fabrication skills advantageous
• A proactive approach to fault finding, a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development
