Job summary

Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join their engineering team in Doncaster. This is a site-based role with no travel required in a highly automated production environment where reliability and continuous improvement are essential.

You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding on mechanical and electrical systems, and support production

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Experience as Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance Engineer or similar.
• Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience in manufacturing/FMCG/fast-paced environments.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and continuous improvement processes.
• Experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems incl. hydraulics/pneumatics.
• Experience with PLCs/SCADA/automation beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Maintain conveyors, elevators, packaging machinery and automated equipment.
• Install, service and modify pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Support CI initiatives to improve equipment reliability and performance.
• Work with operations teams to maximise production efficiency.
• Complete maintenance documentation and ensure H&S and quality standards.

Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) Doncaster | £45,615 per annum (including 15% shift allowance) | Permanent | 38 hours per week | Rotating 3-Shift Pattern

Meridian Business Support is recruiting on behalf of a well‑established manufacturing business for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join their engineering team in Doncaster. This is a site‑based role with no travel required, offering the opportunity to work within a highly automated production environment where reliability, continuous improvement and teamwork are key.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of production machinery and equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime
• Maintaining conveyors, elevators, palletisers, packaging machinery and automated production equipment
• Installing, servicing and modifying pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and performance
• Working closely with operations teams to maximise production efficiency
• Completing maintenance documentation and ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards

Shift Pattern

• Week 1: 6:00am to 2:00pm Mon-Thu; 6:00am to 12:00pm Fri
• Week 2: 2:00pm to 10:00pm Mon-Thu; 12:00pm to 6:00pm Fri
• Week 3: 10:00pm to 6:00am Mon-Thu; 6:00pm to 12:00am Fri

To be successful in this Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer position, you will have:

• A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or engineering qualification such as BTEC, ONC or equivalent
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Technician, Shift Engineer, Production Engineer or similar
• Strong fault‑finding, troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, production, processing or another fast‑paced industrial environment
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance, breakdown repair and continuous improvement processes
• Experience working with mechanical and/or electrical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics
• Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, automation, packaging equipment, conveyors or process machinery would be beneficial but is not essential.

Joining as a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer offers a comprehensive package including:

• £45,615 annual salary including 15% shift allowance
• 38‑hour working week
• 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
• Additional day's holiday after 5 years' service
• Option to buy or sell up to 5 days' holiday after your first full year
• 7.5% employer pension contribution
