Job summary

Scantec is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for a well-established manufacturing site in Selby. The role is hands-on, focused on keeping plant and equipment running efficiently while supporting operations and future improvements.

You will perform planned, predictive and reactive maintenance, respond to breakdowns, and work with contractors to ensure safety and efficiency. A CMMS will be used to track maintenance activities and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained or equivalent mechanical engineering qualification.
• Proven maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Strong fault finding and problem-solving abilities; welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, predictive and reactive mechanical maintenance
• Respond to breakdowns, fault find and implement effective repairs
• Complete preventative maintenance, inspections and greasing schedules
• Repair and rebuild equipment including pumps, centrifuges, conveyors, gearboxes and components
• Support improvements to manufacturing processes and site infrastructure
• Work alongside contractors and service providers
• Develop and use CMMS for maintenance tracking
• Aim for a proactive, zero-breakdown maintenance
• Maintain high health, safety and environmental standards

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire

Salary: £40000 to £43000 plus on call allowance and Benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08 30

We re working with a well-established manufacturing business to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their site maintenance team. This is a hands-on role focused on keeping plant and equipment running efficiently, while supporting both ongoing operations and future improvement projects.

The Role

• Carry out planned, predictive and reactive mechanical maintenance
• Respond to breakdowns, fault find and implement effective repairs
• Complete preventative maintenance, inspections and greasing schedules
• Repair and rebuild equipment including pumps, centrifuges, conveyors, gearboxes and associated components
• Support improvements to manufacturing processes and site infrastructure
• Work alongside contractors and specialist service providers where required
• Contribute to the development and use of a CMMS for maintenance tracking
• Work towards a proactive, zero-breakdown maintenance approach
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times

What We re Looking For

• Apprentice trained or qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience in a similar maintenance role within an industrial/manufacturing environment
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilityExperience with fabrication and welding (TIG, MIG, MMA) is beneficial
• Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Comfortable working across production areas, workshops and outdoor environments
• Good communication skills and ability to work across teams
