Job summary

Omega in Doncaster is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for rotating shifts. You will provide proactive and reactive maintenance to ensure continuous production, working with conveyors and materials handling equipment, and leading repairs with a CMMS.

A strong focus on fault-finding and continuous improvement is required. The role offers training and development on site, with opportunities for overtime and a money‑driven bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance to minimise losses to production.
• Keep production running by fault-finding and maintaining process and packaging equipment.
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Work with conveyor systems, hoppers, conveyors and materials handling.
• Lead mechanical repairs and work with a CMMS.
• Diagnose, resolve and eliminate root causes.
• Implement minor equipment modifications to boost performance.
• Complete all scheduled, planned, corrective and reactive maintenance.
• Assist in planning and implementing annual equipment overhauls.

• Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Rotating shifts
• Location: Doncaster area, good A1 AND M18 access
• Do you want to come off shifts involving 12 hours? Work a Monday to Friday pattern?
• This is an 8-hour rotating pattern offering weekend overtime.
• Contract Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Rotating shifts

• Your new challenge will be providing effective and efficient planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance to minimise losses to production
• Ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe approach to fault-finding and maintenance of process and packaging equipment
• Planned and reactive maintenance to keep downtime to a minimum
• You'll work with conveyor systems, hoppers, solos, conveyors and materials handling
• Leading mechanical repair and working with a CMMS
• Diagnosis, resolution, and elimination of root causes
• Implementation of minor equipment modifications in support of increased performance
• Completion of all scheduled, planned corrective, reactive and maintenance as allocated
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of allocated annual equipment overhauls

Qualifications & Requirements – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Rotating shifts

• Apprentice trained or NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline in maintenance engineering
• Manufacturing Industry experience, heavy, medium or FMCG environments considered
• Routine Preventive Maintenance, so as to have an understanding of a PPM schedule
• Finding and fixing faults quickly and effectively
• Basic welding and fabrication skills advantageous
• A proactive approach to fault finding, a commitment to continuous improvement and personal development
