Job summary

Automation Experts in the United Kingdom seeks a Mechanical Design Projects Engineer to lead the mechanical design of bespoke robotic systems. You will take concepts through to manufacture and installation, coordinating with electrical and software engineers to ensure integrated automation solutions.

The role involves designing end‑of‑arm tooling, performing mechanical calculations, and producing detailed drawings and BOMs, with a focus on DFMA, reliability and serviceability.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical design, ideally within robotics, automation or special‑purpose machinery.
• Proficient in 3D mechanical design and detailed drawing production.
• Ability to create manufacturing documentation and BOMs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models, 2D drawings and BOMs using SolidWorks.
• Design bespoke mechanical components and tooling for robotic systems.
• Develop designs from concept through manufacture and commissioning.
• Ensure integration with electrical and software engineers on complete automation projects.
• Perform mechanical calculations, tolerances and design reviews.
